Facile ligand displacement in the bis(1, 10-phenanthroline)-copper(I) complex cation by diphosphines

Ligand substitution occurs readily at room temperature upon mixing stoichiometric quantities of [Cu(phen)2]NO3 and free triphenylphosphine or diphosphines Ph2P(CH2)nPPh2(n = 1–3).
