The smart grid is a new electric power industry service that combines information technology and telecommunications, where the home grid plays an important part. A set of reliable transmission protocol combined with appliance recognition and intelligent home control service will be indispensable to the home grid. This study proposed a transmission protocol with two-way recognition and control service for a home grid. Based on this transmission protocol, a user plugs in a household appliance into a wall socket and then smart meter reads the electronic energy information.
