Conclusions -- Appendix -- References.This thesis addresses the issues of climate change mitigation and reduction of carbon emissions within the iron- and steel-making industry, which is responsible worldwide for 5 % of total greenhouse emissions. The problem in mainstream hot metal production is that the principal reductants are coke and coal, which come from fossil endowments.
