A semantic analysis on Abdullah Yusuf Ali’s translation of surah Al-Fatihah

This paper deals with the analysis of meaning relation in Abdullah Yusuf Ali’s Translation of surah Al-Fatihah of the Holy Koran. While studying the data, thematic approach semantics analysis would be employed. The steps included selecting and collecting every words which had related in the meaning of surah Al-Fatihah. Afterwards, according to analyze them, with these steps a whole framework from analyzis would be refealed. In addition, they were: homonym, polysemy, synonym, Antonym, hyphonym, denotation, connotation, homophon, and ambiguity. In otherhand, The researcher focused on the literal meaning and the deixises. After that, the researcher used qualitative research approaches. This research had the objective to find out the literal meaning and deixis from Abdullah Yusuf Ali’s Translation of Surah Al-Fatihah. By this way, it will contribute to make easier in learning and understanding of semantic using Holy Koran. Moreover, the aims of this research was to investigate surah al-Fatihah semantically which was planned to give the contribution to the body of knowledge in both theoretical and practical aspect mainly. Theoretically, was attended to enrich other research in the field of semantic especially about literal meaning and deictic which were specified on various surah in holy Qur’an. Practically, the result of this study could be used for deeper understanding of surah al-Fatihah and it would be useful for daily life for Moslems to pray to Allah, because surah al-Fatihah is one of the foundations of prayer.
