Visible light positioning has the potential to be an indoor positioning system that is both low cost and accurate (95% confidence interval less than 10 cm). Such a system is not available today, and could enable widespread adoption. Current visible light positioning systems need extra hardware at the transmitter end in order to modulate the light intensity. This modulation is picked up by a receiver and used by the positioning algorithm. This work investigates the possibility of a visible light positioning based system that does not require a modulation of light intensity.
