Autism is a complex neurodevelopmental disorder. Many preschool children with autism respond to sensory experiences differently from typically developing children. Sensory processing problems have an impact on the child‘s development and eating habits. Aproximately 89% of children with autism experience eating problems. In fact, some authors have sugested that the presence of sensory processing problems and feeding difficulties in infancy may be an early sign of autism.
