Thesis aim: to analyse gastrointestinal obstruction in cats and dogs, diagnosis and methods of treatment. Method: Data collected in United Kingdom Small Animal Clinic in 2014-2015. Dogs and cats were selected with a confirmed diagnosis of gastrointestinal obstruction. There were selected 15 patients of which 12 dogs and 3 cats. Diagnosis and treatment were analysed. Results: In gastrointestinal obstruction diagnosis X-ray examination is commonly used. For all 15 patients the diagnosis or confirmation of diagnosis was confirmed by diagnostic laparotomy. The most common cause of gastrointestinal obstruction: foreign bodies 66.7 %. The most common gastrointestinal foreign body was a stone, which accounted for 30 % of all tested dogs and cats. ...
