Schoolchildren’s health and organisation of its care in secondary schools of Šiauliai city

Aims of the study – to investigate the peculiarities of schoolchildren’s health and lifestyle, and organisation of health promotion and public health care in secondary schools of Šiauliai city. Tasks of the study: 4. To analyse the peculiarities of schoolchildren’s health and lifestyle; 5. To analyse the contribution of public health care specialists to activities of the promotion of a healthy lifestyle at school; 6. To evaluate schoolchildren’s attitude towards activities of health improvement carried out at school. Methods of the study. Schoolchildren of three age groups (5th, 7th and 9th-grade) (n=975; response rate, 64.8%) and public health care specialists (n=24; response rate, 100%) were enrolled in an anonymous questionnaire-based survey. The data of this survey were analysed using the SPSS 15.0 for Windows and MS Excel programme. Hypotheses were tested by applying Z and χ² tests with a significance level of P
