Aim of the research: to determine the change of independence and satisfaction with physical activity in patients who have had total hip replacement surgery, applying occupational therapy at an early stage of rehabilitation. Objectives of the research: 1. To evaluate the patients’ who have had hip replacement surgery independence and satisfaction with physical activity at the beginning and the end of early rehabilitation. 2. To assess the patients’ post-operative skills at the beginning and the end of early rehabilitation. 3. To evaluate the patients’ hip function and related issues after surgery. 4. To assess the patients’ satisfaction with physical activity, applying occupational therapy, depending on the age, sex and type of implant. Method of the research: The study was conducted in Birštonas \"Eglė\" sanatorium, medical rehabilitation section. 36 patients were examined (24 women and 12 men) after total hip replacement surgery. The study was designed to detect performance issues and to test daily, work and leisure activities in patients after surgery. The examined patients were evaluated using a questionnaire created by the author; activity disorders were assessed using the ‘Canadian performance evaluation test’ and HOOS assessment questionnaire was used to evaluate hip function in patients. Conclusions: 1.After hip replacement surgery at the beginning of the rehabilitation, the most disrupted activity was in the group of independence of daily activities, at least in productive activities. Functional movement mostly affects self-service of the person. Productive activity most problems encountered in the housework. At the end of rehabilitation personal autonomy has improved, but the problems identified are the same as in the beginning of rehabilitation.
