The effect of spinal stabilization and sensomotoric exercises for the balance and walking of multiple sclerosis patients

Relevance of the research: Multiple sclerosis –chronic central neurological system autoimmune disease that manifests itself with patological neurological symptoms in various body systems.This is one of the most important reasons of disability in youg age.Physical therapy is considered symptomatic treatement, which aims to easen and compensate theemmergingmovement impairement and to keep the patient functionally independent for as long as possible. This paper compare the results of two different physical therapy exercises for the movement and balance of multiple sclerosis patients. Aim of the paper: To evaluate the effect of spinal stabilization and sensomotoric exercises for the balance and walking of multiple sclerosis patients. Objectives: 1. To evaluate the effect of physical therapy for the balance of multiple sclerosis patients. 2. To evaluate the effect of physical therapy for the walking of multiple sclerosis patients. 3. To compare the walking and balance results of two groups treated in different methods: spinal stabilization and sensomotoric exercises. Research methods:20 multiple sclerosis patients participated in the research. The form of the disesase:relapsing-remitting, expanded disability status scale 1-5,5 points, male and female, aged 24-54. Patients were divided into two groups: spinal stabilization (n=10) and sensomotoric exercises (n=10). All patients were treated by physical therapy for one month, two times a week. The balance of the patients was evaluated before and after physical therapy by using Fullerton advanced balance scale. Walking of the patients was evaluated before and after physical therapy by using Dynamix Gait Index. Conclusions: 1. The balanced of multiple sclerosis patients improved significantly after treatment usingspinal stabilization exercises (p0.05)
