Influence of phytobiotics and prebiotics preparations on productivity and digestive processes of broiler chickens

Prebiotics and phytobiotics could be accepted as an alternative to in-feed antibiotics in poultry production. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of Sangrovit® and Agrimos® on performance parameters, some parameters of digestive processes of chicken broilers for fattening. The trial was carried out with 800 Cobb 500 breed broiler chickens 135-day-old, divided into 4 groups (4 subgroups) of 200 birds each. The birds were fed ad libitum with a crumbled wheat-soybean meal based diet (Control group) supplemented with an phytobiotics preparation (S group, Sangrovit®, 30 g/t of feed), supplemented with prebiotics preparation (AG group, Agrimoss, 2 kg/t of feed) and its combination together (S+AG group). A wheat-soybean meal based diet was formulated to meet the nutrient and energy requirement for broiler chickens (NRC, 1994). The data recorded during the feeding phase were live weight (LW) at 1, 8, 21 and 35 day from the start of the study, feed: gain ratio (F:G) during the periods 1-8, 9-21, 22-35 and 1-35 days from the start of the study. For the determination of digestive processes in the intestinal tract there were analysed average pH values and dry matters concentrations of 10 broiler chickens’ per group in the content of duodenum (Duodenum), small intestine (Intestinum tenue), caeca (Caecum), colon (Intestinum crassum). The glycolytic enzymes activity (-galactosidase, -galactosidase, -glucosidase, -glucosidase and -glucuronidase) were determined in caeca (Caecum) of broiler chickens. Results showed statistical differences among feeding treatments for live weight at 8, 21 and 35 days. The average live weight was 7% (P ≤ 0.05) lower at day 8 for animals from group which feed supplemented with prebiotics mannnanooligosacharides (AG group). On the day 21 remained the same tendency: body weight was not improved in the Groups S and AG where live weight was 808.65 and 849.46 vs 875.24 g compared with Control group respectively. During 5 wk of feeding supplementation of phytobiotics with mannanoligosaccharides during all experimental period to a wheat-soybean meal based diet significantly (P ≤ 0.05) improved body weight (4%) in comparison to the Control group. The dietary treatments did not significantly change pH in duodenum, small intestine, caeca and colon of broiler chickens. Supplementation of prebiotics (AG group) in the diet the dry matters concentration in the content of duodenum of broiler chickens significant increased by 3.18 % (P > 0,05) and phytobiotics combination with prebiotics (S+AG group) the dry matter concentration in the content of cecum of broiler chickens significant increased by 2.85 % (P > 0,05). Also it was observed tendency throuht the action of phytobiotics with prebiotics increased the activity of -galactosidase by 11,3 U/g digesta and -glucosidase – by 2,9 U/g digesta, while the activity of others enzymes had tendency to decrease (P > 0,05). In conclusion, the results of this study showed, that the addition of the dietary combination of phytobiotics Sangrovit® (30 mg/ kg feed) with prebiotics mannanoligosaccharides Agrimos® (2g/kg feed) during all experimental period significantly (P ≤ 0.05) improved final body weight of broiler chickens and had positive effect on digestive processes of broiler chickens in comparison to the Control group
