The assessment of knowledge and training of parents whose children suffer from bronchial asthma

The aim:to assess the knowledge and training of parents of preschool children with BA at an inpatient department.The objectives:1.To find out the knowledge about BA of parents whose children have BA.2.To compare the knowledge before and after individual training of parents whose children have BA.3.To find out the demand of training of parents whose children have BA.Research methodology:The study was conducted at LUHS KK Children’s clinic I Department of Children’s diseases.The conducted study was of immediate quantitative type.The questionnaires made by the author were used before and after training.The survey involved50 parents raising children with a history of BA.The author made an individual training program,which was approved at the department,for parents whose children suffer from BA.Results and conclusions of the study:The results showed that parents whose children have a history of BA mostly knew what is BA94.0 pct.,and the causing allergens96.0pct.The biggest amount of respondents72.0 – 84.0pct. knew what are the risk factors which cause BA.Parents knew the groups of pharmaceuticals for treating BA93.8pct.;what first aid pharmaceutical is used for reducing the symptoms of BA exacerbation76.0pct.However,the parents lacked knowledge of:signs of BA58.0pct. did not know well,exercise tolerance of children with BA82.0pct.did not know,as well as how to properly use an inhaler64.0pct.did not know.A significant change was made of parents’ knowledge on:what are the typical symptoms of BA;what factors cause BA,exercise tolerance for children with BA,and long-term pharmaceutics for the treatment of BA and how to properly use an inhaler.Individual training of parents had a positive effect,parents had enough knowledge about BA.The parents received the least amount of information from nursing staff,they should be more involved in the training of parents about BA.The majority of parents had asked for more information on BA at specialized centres of individual training
