Differently kept cat morbidity dermatophytosis: diagnosis, treatment and prevention

The Final Master's thesis was prepared and titled: “Differently kept Cat morbidity dermatophytosis: diagnosis, treatment and prevention”. The purpose of this thesis was to diagnose the incidence of feline dermatophytosis under different conditions, evaluate the diversity of clinical signs, and the subsequent diagnosis, treatment and preventative features. Thesis consists of: 41 pages, 5 tables, 21 pictures, 43 references. The work had been carried out in 2 chosen Vilnius veterinary small animal clinics. During the study, 57 dermatophytosis infected cats were evaluated for the diversity of clinical features. It was analyzed in which parts of the feline body the symptoms appeared mostly. Also, it considered which active substances were usually selected for dermatophytosis treatment and provided with the recommended regimen. The thesis also examined specific diagnostic methods, their advantages and disadvantages. During the investigation period from 2012 01 30 to 2015 11 28 it was concluded that the biggest affect causal effect on dermatophytosishad was the homecare conditions of the cats. It was concluded that cats held outside were 1.7 times more infected with dermatophytosis than cats, which were not put outside. The most common microscopic funguses were found in younger cats: from birth up to the age of 3. This age group had dermatophytosis 6.3 times more than a group of 7-10 year old cats, while the 1-3 year old cats group had 11 times more than a group of 3-7 year old cat. As a result, it was determined that in most cases cats were infected with Microsporumspp. fungi. According to the survey data, fluorescence caused by fungi were 2 times more than dermatophytes that did not cause fluorescence. Apart from Voods lamp study method, the main method of sowing damaged hair on the DTM, was one of the main methods in order to accurately diagnose dermatophytosis
