Analysis of canine skin diseases appearance

Canine skin diseases are common dog illnesses in veterinary practice. The aim of this project was to analyse dermatitis cases in private veterinary clinic. The goals were chosen to describe main clinical signs and clinical diagnoses rates between different skin diseases. During this project skin scrapings were done, as well analysed influence of various facts as age, breed and other. Overviewed treatment methods. The data for analysis was colected from 2015 January to 2016 October, during this time registered 228 cases of various skin diseases, between them 101 males and 127 females. Dogs were diagnosed with: dermatitis, FAD, otitis, demodecoses, sarcoptoses, otodectoses, Malassezia spp. dermatitis. During this research influence of sex, age, year season was denied, but it was confirmed that clinical signs of skin diseases mostly are presented as otitis (49% of all cases) and various injurings in skin (47%). Most of skin scrapings were negative (86.96%). The most common clinical diagnosis was otitis (47.81%), a little bit less – dermatitis (47.37%). The most diseases cases were noticed in two age groups: 1-3 years old and 6-10 years old (each 31.14%). Breed predisposition was confirmed: West Highland White terriers were 21.49% of all clinical cases. Prophylactic anti-parasitic treatment was done to 11.84% dogs with clinical dermatitis signs.
