Cow dry period therapy of mastitis

Master's thesis: Cow udder inflammation prevention during the dry period. The work consists of 39 pages. The work presents12 images and 2 table. Research work was done at 2016 from July to October month at X farm of Anykščiai district. In the farm was kept on about 300 Lithuanian Black and White and Red breed cows. Cows during daytime are fed pastures and driven into the farms in the evening during grazing season. In the winter season they are keeping at farms in bulk. Study was carried out on pasture season. Was selected at random 60 cows, which are dry off considering of left time of calving (approximately 60 days before calving). Cows are divided into control (n = 28) and experimental (n= 35) groups as well as groups in turn are divided into sub-groups: low (SCC 300 thousand. /ml) of somatic cells count. Both cows group dry period was considered under the same conditions and fed the same ration of feed. On both groups of cows were done diagnostics, named “express method” before dry time, aiming to explore the udder quarters. For test group into the udder quarters have been allowed a longacting antibacterial compounds “Fartroximin dry cow” (inframammary suspension, 5 ml disposable syringe contains 100 mg of rifaximin). The control group did not allow any medication into quarters. After the investigation and statistical analysis of the data, results showed that the used medicament had affected to udder health for experimental group of cows with has a high SCC in the beginning of the study, since reduced the SCC in the milk of test cows group (p
