Evaluation of demand and assortment of preparations with plant origin for common cold diseases

Aim: To research and evaluate demand and assortment of preparations with plant origin for common cold diseases. Findings: The survey revealed that more of patients become sick with common cold diseases once per year (53%). 33% of patients are choosing herbal preparations and using them for the treating of these diseases. More as half of the surveyed specified that the main influence for their choice has recommendation provided by health care specialist - doctor or pharmacist (38%). Most of the respondents (54%) find preferable herbal preparation in the pharmacy and in case if they didn’t find they buy other similar preparation recommended by pharmacist. For the treating of common cold diseases as most popular plants between respondents were indicated: thymus (21%), raspberry (19%) coneflower (10%). Herbal thea 44% of respondents had indicated as most preferable drug form. For 83% of respondents discounts and actions are important for decision to buy herbal preparation and manufacturer of product is not important for them. 85% of respondents are sure that pharmacists gives them all information necessary for the choise of herbal preparation for common cold diseases, advise how and when to use preparation, ask them regarding alergy, inform them regarding side effects and adverse reactions, ask them which other drugs do they use and inform them regarding possible interractions between them and herbal preparations. Conclusions: 1. Respondents most often choose herbal preparations for treating of common cold diseases because for their mind they have less side effects as chemical preparations. 2. The main influence for their choice has recommendation provided by health care specialist - doctor or pharmacist, preferable well known products. 3. Most popular medicinal plants for treating of common cold diseases thymus, raspberry and coneflower. Herbal thea is most preferable drug form. 4. Discounts and actions are important for people decision to buy herbal preparation. 5. Pharmacists give them all information necessary for use of herbal preparations. 6. More of patients become sick with common cold diseases once per year
