Ibogaine is a psychoactive alkaloid extracted from the Tabernanthe Iboga Baill. (Apocynaceae). This alkaloid reduces dependence on opiates and attenuates withdrawal symptoms. Ibogaine is metabolized to metabolite – noribogaine. Noribogaine appears less likely to produce the adverse effects associated with ibogaine. The aim of work is to test the toxicity and pharmacokinetic properties of ibogaine and noribogaine by conducting tests with white laboratory mice. The objectives of the research work are as follows: To determine the toxicity of ibogaine and noribogaine by calculating the median lethal dose (LD50) in laboratory mice.
