Influence of essential oils on micromycetes in wheat

Aim of the study: to evaluate essential oils potentiality using it in order to stabilize feeding wheat quality. Tasks: To determine effect on common number of micro-organisms in feeding wheat using plants essential oil; To determine effect on micromicetes in feeding wheat wheat using plants essential oil; Assess the potential of fodder protection using plants essential oil. Subject of the study: The Feeding wheat harvest of year 2010. Wheat sample were taken from Kaunas region agricultural companies. Wheat samples were taken on accidental basic from store. In general it was 10 samples. General number of micro-organisms (KSV g-1) in the sample was determined by using nutrient agar. Quantitative analyze using dilution method to find out contamination by lively micromycete spores. By establishing contamination of the sample with micromycetes, which are found on the sample parts, contamination with live micromycete mycelium was evaluated in per cent. Research data was evaluated with the means of statistical “R 2.9.2” package and Microsoft Excel. After the research it was clear that essential oil from thyme, oregano and peppermint has stronger effect on general number of microorganisms and lively micromicetes spores than they mixes. The strongest effect on general number of microorganisms has essential oil from thyme (p0,05) using theme – oregano essential oil (100 %) mix, and being 100 μl of essential oil quantity after 1 hour. After appreciating antimicrobial effect using essential oils, we can say, essential oils could be used successfully in order to safe and prevention of feeds
