Aim of the study was to investigate the job satisfaction of nursing staff in nursing and supportive treatment hospitals in Kaunas city and Kaunas district. Methods. Anonymous questioning of 93 nurses and 82 nursing assistants was performed in study hospitals. Statistical data analysis was done using statistical package SPSS, version 13.0. Results: The work to the respondents is mainly a mean for subsistence and possibility to help other person. The most of all nursing staff is satisfied with interpersonal relations with their leaders and colleagues, with the level of independence and recognition of personal efforts, and with possibility to use the competencies.
