Organization of healh promotion in comprehensive school's of Marijampolė city

Quickly responding to the negative changes of environment and society children and youth are becoming the most vulnerable segment of society. The significance of development of life skills and influence of one’s health is crucial in these circumstances. The issues of public health should be determine and tackled through the basic and healthy life style education in the schools, notwithstanding to the organizational structure of public health education system. The regulatory and organizational changes of the health care in the schools in Lithuania in 2004 have influenced the work of health care specialists. They must redefine their activities in the sphere of public health care. The aim of study - to evaluate organization of health promotion in comprehensive schools‘ of Marijampole city. The objectives are: 1. To describe the attitude of schoolchildren towards health promotion activities in the school. 2. To indicate the peculiarities of educators’ activities of health promotion in the school. 3. To assess the input of public health care specialists into the organization health promotion activities in the school. The methods of the study. According the directions of health promotion outlined in the charter of Otawa there is analyzed the attitude of school community towards activities of health promotion in the school. Using anonymous questionnaire there are explored six schools of Marijampole city. There are investigated 403 schoolchildren of 5, 7, 9 classes, 195 tutors and 6 health care specialists.
