Bioactivity of essentiol oil against the Tribolium confusum

The experiments was done from 01/10/2011 to 01/10/2012 in LUHS VA in the Animal welfare reaserch laboratory. The aim of this work was to investigate the effect of applying different stock of seven essential oils and develop their insecticidical features against Triborum confusum. This oils were: (Eugenia Caryophyllata (cloves), Cupressus sempervireus (cypress), Citronella Ceylon (lemongrass), Rosmarinus officinalis L. (rosemary), Pimpinella anisum (Anise), Cedrus atlantica ( cedar ), Juniperus communis L. ( juniper ). The experiment was done by injecting compound of EO’s (Essential oils) containing 100 % concentration of these oils in a 4 glass jars with insects inside. The surfaces of beetles always containing different microorganism on it. The insects is disseminated into nutrition media before and after applying of EO. After this number of microorganism on surface is observed.Different volume of droplets was used: 25 μl,50 μl,100 μl,200 μl . After 1, 2, 4, 6 hours number of died beetles was observed and analyzed. The analysis showed that applying Rosmarinus officinalis and Cupressus sempervireus had the most significant effect of killing insects mentioned above. It was used the smallest amount and shortest time of applying. The most failure effect was observed then Cedrus atlantica was applied against beatles.
