Alcohol-depended patients’ satisfaction with services provided in psychiatric hospital

The aim of the study. To assess alcohol-depended patients’ satisfaction with the services provided within psychiatric hospital. Methodology. Anonymous questionnaires have been used in Kaunas Hospital. 168 pacients were surveyed in 2010, in the period of September – November. Statistical analysis was performed by using SPSS ver. 17.0 and MS Exsel. Results. Pacients aged 18 and older participated in the research. 41,7 % of the surveyed pacients were women, 58,9 % - village people. Most of the respondents had secondary education (38,7 %.). After analyzing questionnaires, it was certain, that most of the respondents (66,7 %.), were highly informed about their ilness, it‘s treatment. The speech of the doctor, while informing the patients, was clear and understandable to 69,7 % of the respondents. 48,8 % of the respondents rated the services in the hospital as very good and great. 90,2 % of the respondents said, that psychotherapist‘s consultations were useful, 90,6 % said that psychologist’s consultations were useful, 94,5 % of the respondents said, that social worker‘s consultations were useful. In the benefit of the new services believes the most of the respondents. 69,7 % of the respondents said, that consultations of the doctor to the family memebers would be useful. Training of the family members by the doctor was rated as useful by 70,2 % of the respondents; consultations, which would be read with the family members participating, was rated as useful by 57,7 % and mutual assistance sessions was rated as useful by 77,4 % of the respondents. Conclusion. Alcohol-depended pacients satisfaction of the hospitals medical staff was high. The consultations were rated as very good. Services of the hospital satisfied the patients needs. The respondents want new services, they think, that these new services would help them to solve their problemss. That is why the hospital should provide more services to the alcohol-dependend patients
