The objective of the master’s thesis was to experimentally find the optimal drying parameters for spruce heartwood veneers in terms of veneer quality and drying capacity. The quality was referred to moisture content, moisture deviation, tensile strength (across the grain direction), surface roughness, wettability, waviness and other visual defects. The strength properties of plywood were excluded from the study. The mill experiments were conducted at UPM Pellos 3 jet roller dryer in June 2014. A 2^4 full factorial design of experiment was used as the base of the tests and analyses.
