Artist Boss at Bath Spa [curator]

An exhibition at Bath School of Art & Design (6th Dec 2016- 20th Jan 2017) chronicles the Artist Boss project to bring together otherwise unseen footage of the artists’ studios, documentation of exhibition installation, and the final artworks themselves, to reveal a behind-the-scenes insight into the communities of art practices. Invited former assistants will give talks at BSAD during the exhibition. Artist Boss is a creative research project, which explores the relationship between artist and assistant. Initiated by Bath Spa University and Norwich University of the Arts, Artist Boss focuses on the prolific sculptor Sir Anthony Caro (1924 – 2013), investigating the traditional assistants role, its impact on learning and artistic careers. The project involves a series of exhibitions and a publication to offer an uncharted approach on the reading of Caro’s work and legacy in sculpture today.
