Redesigning the Urban Water Cycle A Vision for Redgedale Mall 2030

Report completed by students enrolled in ARCH 8567: Building and Site Integration in Sustainable Design, taught by Richard Strong and Peter MacDonagh in fall 2012.This project was completed as part of the 2012-2013 Resilient Communities Project (rcp.umn.edu) partnership with the City of Minnetonka. The City of Minnetonka was looking for innovative design solution to address stormwater management issues at the site of the Ridgedale Mall. Minnetonka project lead Jo Colleran collaborated with five groups of graduate-level architecture students in ARCH 8567: Building and Site Integration in Sustainable Design, to develop solutions to accommodate 90% of all stormwater and other water use on the site through attractive, educational, and interactive designs. The final report is available.This project was supported by the Resilient Communities Project (RCP), a program at the University of Minnesota that convenes the wide-ranging expertise of U of M faculty and students to address strategic local projects that advance community resilience and sustainability.
