El estudio del hábitat de Aedes aegypti es de gran importancia para el desarrollo e implementación de acciones de control efectivas. Con el objetivo de caracterizar el hábitat de este mosquito e identificar los factores que influyen en su calidad, se realizaron estudios para las siguientes escalas espaciales: los cementerios como macrohábitats, los parches dentro de un mismo cementerio, los microhábitats dentro de un mismo parche, y los recipientes donde cría. Entre 1998 y 2001 se llevaron a cabo monitoreos de actividad de oviposición de las hembras y de sitios de cría. Se estudió la asociación entre el nivel de infestación y la oferta de recipientes, la cobertura vegetal, la proximidad de otros sitios favorables, la sombra, la temperatura ...
