Nitrogen Fertilization and Growth Reducer on Wheat Yield and Seed Physiological Quality

Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is a widespread crop worldwide, whether in the form of grain or its numerous derivatives obtained by industrialization. The fertilization with nitrogen is critical to increasing productivity. Therefore, in the technical recommendations, the dose of nitrogen to be used is based on the expected crop yield, organic matter content of soil and the previous crop. Growth reducers can be coupled with nitrogen decreasing the chances of lodging and further increasing the productivity and quality of grain. Thus, the aim of this study was to evaluate the seed performance of wheat cultivars produced under different N fertilizer doses and concomitant application of growth reducers. The study was performed in 2013 at Cerofeju farm in the municipality of Redentora - RS. The experiment was designed in randomized blocks with three replicates, composed by fifteen wheat cultivars prevalent in the region and of different technological classes. Urea was used as nitrogen source at doses of 100, 200 and 300 kg ha-1 and the growth reducer Moddus® at recommended dose and period. The increase in urea doses led to higher yields and higher physiological quality of wheat seeds.Sem bolsaO trigo (Triticum aestivum L.) é uma cultura difundida mundialmente, seja na forma de grão ou de seus inúmeros derivados obtidos pela sua industrialização. A adubação com o nitrogênio é fundamental para o aumento da produtividade. Portanto, na indicação técnica, a dose de Itrogenio a ser utilizada tem por base a expectativa de rendimento da cultura, teor de matéria orgânica do solo e da cultura antecessora. Aliado ao nitrogênio podem ser utilizados redutores de crescimento diminuindo as chances de acamamento e aumentando ainda mais a produtividade e a qualidade de grãos. Dessa maneira, o objetivo do trabalho foi avaliar o desempenho de sementes de cultivares de trigo produzidas sob diferentes doses de N-fertilizante e aplicação concomitante de redutor de crescimento. O estudo foi desenvolvido em 2013 na área na granja Cerofeju no município de Redentora-RS. O experimento foi delineado em blocos casualizados com três repetições, constituindose em quinze cultivares de trigo predominantes na região e de diferentes padrões tecnológicos. Foi utilizada a uréia como fonte de N em cobertura com doses de 100, 200 e 300 kg ha-2, também utilizou-se o redutor de crescimento Moddus® na dose e época recomendada pelo fabricante.
