The consumption of peppers (Capsicum, Solanaceae) increases progressively, due to diversity, multiplicity of usage and the functional properties of the fruits. One of the problems that limit the peppers produtivity is anthracnose, a recurrent fungal disease in South of Brazil, results in losses to producers and consumers. Facing this problem, the wide genetic diversity found in peppers represents an important source of new alternatives.
