An epistemological approach showsthat at times when psychoanalysis has shown itself to be dogmatic and inflexible(notably in positions adopted towards women and homosexuality), dynamicand innovative new stances have arisen beyond its bounds, and generally, theyhave been highly critical of psychoanalysis. This approach enables us to ask towhat extent analytical practice is enlightened and coloured by other forms ofdiscourse, without forasmuch its specificity being lost. Why is psychoanalysis thetarget of such criticism today ? Is it really so normative ? Inventiveness must bethe guiding principle of Freudian practice so that norms may be stripped of thenormalising power through which individuals are put into categories. Une approche épistémologique de la psychanalyse a pu montrer que là où elle a été le plus souvent dogmatique et le moins plastique (notamment dans certaines positions visant les femmes et les homosexualités), on a pu assister à l’émergence d’une pensée inventive et vivante en dehors de son domaine et le plus souvent très critique à son endroit.Dans cette démarche, il s’agit d’interroger dans quelle mesure la pratique analytique peut se trouver éclairée ou infléchie par d’autres discours sans y perdre sa spécificité. Pourquoi la psychanalyse est-elle si critiquée actuellement ? Est-elle si normative ?
