International audienceAnalyzes of glass tesserae dating from late antiquity and the Byzantine world are now numerous, but the workshops are largely unknown. Thus, it is still difficult to follow the supply routes of the mosaicists and the logic of circulation of their materials, such as to verify the existence of a link between the circulation of materials and circulation of craftsmen. Similarly, archaeological excavations have not yet restored vestiges of a specific workshop for the production of wafers used for the size of glass tesserae.The use of archaeometry is therefore necessary.
