Abstract

High-level sports are cadenced by multiple deadlines at regular intervals, while operating variously in the short, medium and long-term. In this context, we examine the sense of time among fencers of the "Pôle France". The purpose is to understand how they project themselves into the future, and how it impacts the ways they manage their time in everyday life. In a first part, we show that the fencers anticipate the future in a variety of ways. The different levels of scope and accuracy of their projections allows identifying three profiles of athletes.
