International audienceFor Ni-Mn-Ga alloys, giant magnetic-field-induced strains may be achieved in a modulated martensitic state, offering attractive chances for academic and practical exploration. However, the metastability of modulated martensite imposes a severe constraint on the capacity of these alloys as promising materials for sensors and actuators. In the present work, we conduct both experimental examinations and ab initio calculations to seek potential remedies of this critical problem through composition tuning.
