National audienceIn the 1970s, the emergence of the notion of customer in the discourse of EDF, replacing the former concept of subscriber, reflects a change in the way the company considers the relationship it has with its audience. This article aims to examine this evolution in both its sensible and symbolic dimensions, without omitting its dynamic characteristic. In these conditions, we consider the various announcements made by EDF as part of one same process of communication that we apprehend as a narration of the company’s activity. This approach allows us to highlight the value of a reflection on the way of considering representations developed by the public about a company.
