The road transport system is based on driving characteristics: a large amount of accidents is related to more or less serious violations of rules of the Highway Code. It is obvious that different drivers have different behaviors in the same situations, less obvious is to know what percentage of a given population has some similar behaviors (e. g. due to factors such as driving experience, age and/or sex) and how this knowledge can help in the road studies. To learn the driver's behavior, it can be useful to measure road speed (V85 or operating speed) in some default road situations (geometrical or environmental).
