Council for Economic Planning and Development in Legislative Yuan further estimates that the percentage may reach 14% in 2017, making Taiwan an aged society. The statistics of disabled population in 2015 from Ministry of Health and Welfare is around 760,000 people, and the number may soar up to 1.2 million people in 2031. For each Taiwanese citizen, the need for long-term care will be approximately 7.3 years.
