This work aims at simplifying the preparation of a new type of HIV entry inhibitor, conceived, synthesized and validated within a collaboration between our group, the "Institut de Biologie Structurale" (Grenoble) and the Institut Pasteur (Paris). This prototype is composed of a CD4 functional mimetic linked to a dodecasaccharide fragment of Heparan Sulfate, whose synthesis is complex. In order to determine if Heparan Sulfate may be replaced by simpler sulfated oligosaccharides, we decided to prepare a set of sulfated oligomaltosides.
