The French writer Patrick Modiano (1945-), the German writer W.G. Sebald (1944-2001) and the Austrian writer Fred Wander (1917-2006) consider the relationship between errance and literature after 1945: They are moved by the absence of the witnesses and the disparition of the past after World War II. Their books are haunted by memory lapses and identity disorder and they present a lot of trips accross worlds ; the characters of Modiano, Sebald and Wander are in exile or in transit, far away from their Heimat, and there are searching for missing peaces of their identity.
