Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and Electrochemically Reduced Graphene Oxide films were prepared on gold electrodes of microbalance and tested in different electrolytes such as LiCl, NaCl and KCl. The capacitive charge storage of carbon-based film electrodes were investigated by ac-electrogravimetry which couples fast quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The chemical nature and the role of each species, anion, cation, solvated cation, free solvent, involved in the charge storage mechanism, have been clearly identified during the cathodic and anodic polarization through ac-electrogravimetry measurements for the very first time. The ac-electrogravimetric results confirm that the cations are predominantly...
