Since its introduction in the 1970s, computed tomography (CT) has become the technique of reference in medical imaging for many diseases due to its high diagnostic performance. Its main limitation is the radiation dose delivered to the patient. Considering the potential risks of radiation-induced cancer caused even with low dose exposure, dose reduction in CT is essential. In this work, we studied several technical and behavioral factors that allow for CT radiation dose reduction and optimization, without modifying the diagnostic performance.
