MOFs (metal-organic-frameworks) are hybrid (organic/inorganic) crystalline nanoporous materials. Periodicity and porosity provide to these materials modularity of properties by the topology of networks, and interactions between the framework and penetrating molecules in nanopores. Adsorption of molecules in pores allows for mixtures separation, selective sequestration of molecules, catalysis, storage of energy etc... Flexibility of some MOFs is characterized by extremes volume variations modifying properties of these materials.
