1996Purchased for the Camosun College Art Collection by the Camosun College Cultural Enhancement Committee from Equinox Gallery, Vancouver, BC.Born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 1954, Greg Murdock is a multi-disciplinary artist who works with painting, sculpture, and drawing. He attended the University of Saskatchewan (1977-1978) with a focus on studying ceramics, sculpture, and drawing; the Institute Allende, San Miguel De Allende, Mexico (1977-1978), where he learned to work with bronze; and graduated with honours from Emily Carr College of Art and Design (now Emily Carr University) in 1981. Murdock’s two and three-dimensional works explore form, surface, and space through their fresco-like materiality, use of mixed media, and investigation of interior and exterior landscapes and architectural imagery. Murdock has shown in group and solo exhibitions in major centres across North America and has his work featured in an array of collections including the Canada Council Art Bank, Art Institute of Chicago, Vancouver Art Gallery, Disney Film Corporation, Microsoft, University of Saskatchewan, Milwaukee Art Museum, as well as the collections of numerous architectural firms.
