He attended the University of Saskatchewan (1977-1978) with a focus on studying ceramics, sculpture, and drawing; the Institute Allende, San Miguel De Allende, Mexico (1977-1978), where he learned to work with bronze; and graduated with honours from Emily Carr College of Art and Design (now Emily Carr University) in 1981.
