Dogs can be infected by several nematodes of the Trichuridae family. Trichuridae eggs have a similar morphology and misdiagnosis among different species is possible. Eucoleus boehmi (syn. Capillaria boehmi) lives in the nasal cavities and paranasal sinuses of foxes, wolves and dogs.
