ANALYSIS OF THE POLICY SCENARIO EFFECTS ON ADOPTION OF ENERGY PRODUCTION/ENERGY CROPS ON THE FARM. A CASE STUDY IN EMILIA ROMAGNA (ITALY)

The production of renewable energy by agriculture has shaped largely the discussion about the future of the primary sector in the next years, and it is at the core of reasoning about the future development of the Bioeconomy. In addressing such issue, the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) represents a major driver, as it is one of the main determinants of the viability of agricultural production and of production choices by the farms. The objective of this paper is to evaluate the effects of alternative CAP policy scenario on the willingness to adopt energy plants or energy crop in a Province of Italy (Bologna). This is done, using both survey information from the area and farm household mathematical models, hence jointly using stated intentions and simulated profitability to adopt technologies for energy production. The results show the relevance CAP scenarios in changing the intentions to adopt the energy production and in the timing of adoption
