The Director of the Fine Arts Department of Genoa Council until 1948, Orlando Grosso – more than any other – made an important contribution in defining the boundaries of Genoa’s case study, laying the foundations for further in-depth studies in the post-World War II period. Through his exhibitions, books and many papers published on academic journals he became an interpreter of the complicated reality of his time – which was certainly affected by government policies – as shown by his acquaintance and repeated collaboration with Ugo Ojetti.
