Lettura processuale dei tessuti urbani: esperienze di ripristino

The operation retraces, with particularly significant examples, a process of study and redesign of the more organic assessment achieved by urban fabric of ancient formation before their destruction or strong alteration for natural or man-made events.The method of scanning the historical formation process of the urban fabric, wants to define what are the settlement principles and architectural features worthy of being restored and which instead, are most likely to be forgotten because they are oppositional and degrading of that process. From the studies of Saverio Muratori and his collaborators on the urban fabric and building types of Venice and Rome, of Gianfranco Caniggia on Como, Venzone, Florence, Naples and Venice, to the research on the structural types of Paolo Marconi and Antonino Giuffrè on Rome, Palermo, Ortigia, etc., in the last fifty to sixty years a series of studies have developed, that have largely influenced the culture of the urban and architectural restoration in Italy. Examples include Rome, and in particular via Giulia, where in the space of two decades practiced Gianfranco Caniggia first and then Paul Marconi to propose a reconstruction of a piece of city torn by reckless demolitions in continuity with the previous arrangement.It also shows some case studies on small historic centers of the Roman districts where the model applied is particularly effective to regenerate degraded urban environments worthy to recover its original beauty
