The evident and progressive aging of the population requires to healthcare professionals a clinical challenge that cannot be postponed: overcome the limitations of "disease-oriented medicine" for include, in the clinical competences of the physician, the "person-centered care". We describe a practical method of intervention based on the theoretical principles of the Ailment Triangle and, specifically, on the exploration of one of the vertices of the triangle: the Patient's Illness. We should also analyze the benefits of the method for the sanitary organization (both in economic that in organizational structure), on conflict reduction for malpractice and increase in compliance with the patient, family and caregiver
