Keeping in mind, during the course of mining, a large amount of iron and coal fines are generated, a technique need to be developed to make use of almost useless fines. In my project work, we are making studies of reduction-swelling behavior of nuggets made out from hematite ore under the influence of varying parameters. We studied the physical characteristics of fired iron ore pellets. As we increase the dose of binder, i.e., bentonite, the crushing strength & drop no. increases. Objectives of this project work is to investigate the effects of (a) reduction temp. & time (b) content of bentonite on swelling-reduction properties of fired hematite nuggets.
