Agricultures et villes : des articulations renouvelées

International audienceKey discipline in the Vidalian geography in the times of farm modernization, ruralgeography has had to renew its scientific framework in the light of the urbanizationof the countryside. The concept of territorial resource opens the way to thinking ofpossible linkages between cities, countryside and agriculture. The challenge hasbecome one of scrutinizing the signs of what is a second “rural renaissance.” Thetrends involve substitution by farmers and agriculture, as territory-based actors, ofa proactive dynamics of construction of town-country relations in place of variousforms of acculturation. These developments are brought out in the five papers ofthis issue "Town and agriculture". This introduction points out the methodologicalapproaches they bring to these studies (phenomenology, networks, inversion ofperspectives) and themes (publicization, food supply). The continual adaptationof farming to urban expectations is shifting from a context of domination towardsthe construction of transactions, raising the question of its irreducibility in theface of the urban world. Agriculture and the countryside seem more than ever tobe renewing the ways in which they fit into overall society.Discipline-clef dans la géographie vidalienne au temps de l’agricolisation descampagnes, la géographie rurale a dû renouveler ses cadres d’analyse avec l’urbanisationdes campagnes. L’enjeu est désormais de scruter les manifestationsd’une deuxième renaissance rurale où les agriculteurs et l’agriculture, en tantqu’acteurs des territoires, substituent à des formes d’acculturation une dynamiqueproactive de construction des relations ville-campagne ainsi que le montrent lescinq articles réunis dans ce dossier « Agricultures et villes ». Cette introductionrelève leurs apports méthodologiques (phénoménologie, réseau, inversions deperspectives) et thématiques (publicisation, alimentation). La continuelle adaptationde l’agriculture aux attentes urbaines évolue d’un contexte de dominationvers la construction de transactions, posant la question de son irréductibilité aumonde urbain.
