On the difficulty and magnitude of politics

People who do not devote enough time to reflection on politics and their observations are based on party struggles in the democratic system, they can easily conclude that this sphere is insignificant. In this paper, contradicting superficial observations and judgements, I try to emphasise that politics is the most important and most difficult field of human activity. My view is that this refers both to internal and foreign affairs. My aim is to show the scale of difficulties and dilemmas faced by politicians, which are generated, among others, by relativism or determinism that characterises this field. Another source of problems is human nature, which underlies politics and is excessively subject to affections. The burden that overwhelms politicians is the need to make decisions with a permanent deficit of reliable information and under the pressure of time. The fact that politics always happens in the shadow of war is also very challenging.
