International audienceWe recently presented the first computational method for the large-scale identification of what we have termed "extreme multifunctional proteins" (EMF) [1]. These are proteins whose multiple functions are very dissimilar to one another. While obviously related to moonlighting proteins, we chose to coin a new term because we felt that the current definition of moonlighting is too constrictive.
